The Maleficent star and famous humanitarian pledged to help the organization called No Kid Hungry by donating $1 million. The amount will be used to help the needy during the pandemic.
According to the actress, as of this week, there are more than a billion children who are presently out of school around the world because of the closures brought about by COVID-19. She pointed out that many children rely on the care and nutrition provided by their school. In fact, America has almost 22 million children who rely on food support. The organization is making all efforts to help as many children as possible.
No Kid Hungry aims to use its resources to ensure that kids receive food. It is under Share Our Strength and its founder and executive chair, Billy Shore, sees to it that all donations are used well. He said that many people reached out to them and accepted their challenge of feeding hungry kids during this time. He added that he has heard a lot of stories, especially of persistence. They won’t let anything stand in their way to provide children with healthy meals.

Last weekend, Clara Lionel Foundation by Rihanna donated $5 million in the US and other countries for the rapid response efforts for coronavirus while Arnold Schwarzenegger gave $1 million to the Frontline Responders Fund to help buy protective equipment and other medical supplies. Meanwhile, the couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively also said they would help Feeding America and Food Banks Canada by donating $1 million.
