Byron “Reckful” Bernstein passed away this week at the age of 31, according to multiple reports.
On Twitter, Byron’s ex-girlfriend known as Blue confirmed that he’s gone and she wished she could have helped him. She then expressed her love and gratitude to him for being a part of her life. According to fellow streamer NymN, Byron’s older brother Gary Bernstein also confirmed his passing, along with Byron’s roommate.

When the Austin Texas-based gamer shared a few cryptic messages on social media, fans grew concerned for him.
On Thursday morning, Byron shared on Twitter that he feels bad for anyone who has to deal with his insanity, and that he just wants them to know that the insane person doesn’t feel in control of their actions in these situations.
Byron also appeared to propose to his girlfriend Becca hours before his passing, according to his Twitter.
Becca would then react later in a lengthy Twitter post. Entitled “RIP July 2, 2020,” the message signified that Becca, “until it was too late,” didn’t see the proposal. She wrote that that doesn’t change the fact the she wasn’t able to be there for him and that he was larger than life and too big for this world. She also shared that Byron brought him to realize that she knew nothing about depression and mental health issues.
She continued saying that everyone needs better support for those with mental needs, for she remembers Byron telling her how traumatized he was when the authorities called on him for being at risk of suicide. She reiterated that this can’t be how people feel about the places that should be keeping them safe in the first place.
Byron revealed that he lost his brother to suicide when he was 6 years old, in a Youtube video posted in January. He also admitted that he’s struggling with his mental health but as he worked on a new game, he was improving.
In the video, he said that he’s actually day-to-day happy and that in his life, he’s never felt this way. He’s not saying that it’s going to last forever, but at that moment, he was happy.- Advertisement -

In a statement, Twitch shared in part that they’re devastated to hear of Byron’s passing and their hearts go out to his family, friends and community.
