Athletes and famous media personalities are mourning over the death of the NBA superstar Kobe Bryant. On January 26 around 10 a.m., the helicopter that was carrying Bryant and eight other people crashed in Calabasas, California which killed all the people on board including his daughter.
Last Sunday, the basketball legend together with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, were on their way to Mamba Academy for basketball practice. Gianna, also known as GiGi, is Bryant’s second daughter. GiGi had been pursuing her basketball career and intends to break norms in order to carry out her father’s legacy. Her father had been very supportive of her and even coached her daughter’s team as his way of supporting her.
Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant had made his name in the basketball industry and is globally admired by millions of people. He entered the NBA straight from high school and have been a loyal Lakers‘ star player, playing his entire 20-year career for the Los Angeles basketball team. He became an NBA legend after acquiring 30,000 career points at the age of 34 making him the youngest player to achieve such heights.
Kobe also won five NBA championship and was an 18-time All-Star. He then retired after the 2015-2016 season at the age of 37. In 2018, he won the 2018 Academy Award for Best Animated Film for his “Dear Basketball”. He was then married to Vanessa and they had four daughters including his second eldest daughter GiGi.
After the tragic news was known to the public, countless support and condolences were heard from Bryant’s fans and friends including some famous personalities like Dwayne Wade, Demi Lovato, and Jamie Fox. Wade, the former Miami Heat player tweeted how unacceptable is Bryant’s death for him. Lovato, on the other hand, made an Instagram post about how sad is Bryant’s death for her and how sweet he was to the International singer together with a photo.
Aside from Kobe and GiGi, the crash also took the life of a college baseball coach together with his daughter and wife.- Advertisement -
