It’s been more than 24 hours since the actress was reported missing off a lake in Southern California. She was out boating with her four-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, when they failed to return a boat they rented for three hours. That’s when an attendant started looking for them only to find the boat and Rivera’s son on the boat without any sign of the actress. An adult-sized life vest was also on the boat.
The search and rescue operation started immediately but after a few hours of searching, authorities have said that the 33-year-old actress is already presumed dead in what could be a drowning accident.
Based on a press conference conducted by the Ventura Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, July 9, it would take a few days to recover her body. Her body may never come back up if it’s entangled in something underwater.
Despite this tragic news, Heather Morris, said she’s not giving up. She’s a longtime friend of Rivera aside from working together in Glee. She explained that it’s hard to wrap one’s head around something that’s unknown. She added that she’s holding on to hope that the rescuers will bring her friend back home. She said that she knows Rivera would remind her during moments like this that God has a plan and though people may not know it, they should keep their chin up and remain strong.
In addition to Morris other Glee cast members also expressed their support for Rivera’s safe recovery. Chord Overstreet tweeted that people should love and hug the people they can, while they still can. He also said I love you and asked everyone to send out their prayers.- Advertisement -
On the other hand, Leah Remini who Rivera worked with in Mad Families, took to Instagram to pay a tribute to her saying that it’s heartbreaking. Rivera reminded her to appreciate her work and asked those to pray for her, her son, and her family.
Demi Lovato, who appeared as a guest on Glee, tweeted and encouraged others to manifest on Twitter for the actress’ to be found safe and sound and for Naya Rivera to be found healthy and alive.
