According to the police investigation, she had been suffering from severe depression though the exact cause of her death is still unconfirmed.

Recent government data proved that suicide is one of the leading causes of death among people under the age of 40. Sulli, who was Choi Jin-ri in real life, was a very outspoken feminist. In fact, she was very active in social media. Because of this, she became the subject of online bullying and harassment.

Sulli joined f(x) in 2009 but later left her career as a singer in 2015 to focus more on acting. Since then she had been suffering from cyberbullying. Recently, she hosted a TV series featuring celebrities who also experienced online abuse. Her death shook the whole K-Pop industry worldwide.

Meanwhile, Sulli’s talent agency called SM Entertainment released a statement upon confirmation of her death. The company also acted as the intermediary between Sulli’s family and the general public. According to hem, the former star’s family will be holding a private funeral. The ceremony will be held without the press.

In line with this tragic event, many Korean celebrities canceled their schedule of activities and promotions. Amber Liu, her fellow f(x) member, announced she will cancel her activities until further notice. Meanwhile, SuperM also canceled their recording yesterday following the news of her death. Super Junior also moved the release of “Super Clap”, their most recent music video, from October 14 to October 18.

On the other hand, Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation also postponed the release of the teaser of her solo album. Her comeback schedule was adjusted to give her time to process what happened to her friend.

One of her friends, Goo Hara, paid tribute to her through a post where she hoped that Sulli can do whatever she wanted to do in that world where she is now. Another friend, actress Goo Hye-Sun, posted on Instagram a photo and a message telling baby Sulli to sleep well and that she loved her.

K-Pop star Sulli may have left this world but she would always be remembered by her loved ones and fans.
