Katy Perry rocked in a daisy-covered dress that showed off her baby bump during the grand finale of American Idol on Sunday. It was a memorable night not only for contestants but also to the singer who debuted her latest single “Daisies” just before the announcement of winners.
Katy’s performance was iconic. She was seen dancing on a digital stage that transformed with the help of computer generated imagery to create an interactive virtual environment. The powerful song together with the creative visuals gave her performance a very unique and emotional appeal to the viewers.
The songstress already hinted about her number in the finale days before on Instagram. She even gave her fans a glimpse of the visual elements that will be used. She tweeted about how she’ll be using brand new technology that has never been seen on television before. She also encouraged fans to tune in to the American Idol finale and for the first television performance of her latest song Daisies.
Meanwhile, the singer already released the music video for her new single three days before her first TV performance. In the video, she was seen slowly stripping off her white robe and gown. She was standing nude in the water and showing off her bare baby bump as she was about to take a dip beside a waterfall. She is expecting her first baby with Orlando Bloom and though they had to postpone their grand wedding, the two are more than excited to welcome their baby girl.
In addition to her memorable performance on American Idol, she also joined her fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie for a historic performance of “We Are the World”. Richie co-wrote with Michael Jackson the charity anthem which was first performed on TV in 1985.- Advertisement -
The number also featured recorded vocals from Season 18’s top 11 contestants. Moreover, some of the past idol winners also lent their voices with each of them recorded remotely. Fantasia, Kellie Pickler, Ruben Studdard, Lauren Alaina, Laine Hardy, Phillip Phillips, Katharine McPhee, Alejandro Aranda, and Jordin Sparks joined in singing the song which serves as a reminder to everybody to unite once again as we combat the coronavirus pandemic.
