Good news to all Jonas Brothers and The Voice fans out there! Nick Jonas will be joining the popular singing show as one of the coaches alongside Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend. He would be stepping for Gwen Stefani who won’t be returning next season.
Ellen DeGeneres broke the good news through a tweet last Monday, October 7. She shared a clip featuring her interview of the Jonas Brothers, Nick, Joe, and Kevin. DeGeneres also played a video showing Nick’s new coworkers. So what do his fellow coaches have to say?
Shelton, 43, is the oldest in the group and has been with The Voice since it started in 2011. Based on the clip, he extended his congratulations to Nick and then raised some concerns saying that he’s not old enough to be one of the coaches and that he was certain he’ll have his butt kicked in the show.
Meanwhile, Clarkson, 37, said that being a fellow Texan, the two of them should team-up. On the other hand, Legend, 40, welcomed him warmly and told him that their mission is to destroy Shelton. He added that they have to form an alliance with Clarkson to beat Blake and nothing else matters.
Nick said he is very excited to join the show saying that he will kick Blake’s ass. He’s also considering forming an alliance with Clarkson and suggested that he and Legend can talk and figure everything out.- Advertisement -
About the part that he’s still too young to be a coach, Nick pointed out that he has been in the industry for almost 20 years and has a lot to bring in the competition. He admitted being competitive himself and that he looks forward to helping any aspiring artist that joins the show.
On May 24, Levine confirmed that he won’t be around for season 17. He was one of the pioneer coaches on the show together with Shelton. He would be spending some time away from the limelight to be with his wife, Behati Prinsloo, and daughters, Dusty and Gio. Meanwhile, host Carson Daly said that viewers will surely miss his relationship with Shelton. He added that his The Voice family will miss him and wish him the best.
