Meanwhile, Billie Eilish also took home two awards namely the Best New Artist and Best Song for “Tough Guy”. She beat Lil Nas X, Camila Cabello, Post Malone, and Ariana Grande. Meanwhile, Shawn Mendes was able to snag the Best Artist award.

Aside from Swift and Eilish, the K-pop group BTS also won two awards. The Korean superstars were awarded Best Live Performance and Biggest Fans during the program.

The ceremony featured performances from popular artists like Becky G, Rosalia, and Dua Lipa among others. Lipa opened the show on Sunday evening with her first-ever worldwide stage performance of her latest song called “Don’t Start Now”. She was wearing a full black outfit in contrast with her dancers who were wearing yellow. Mabel also took the floor with her song, “Don’t Call Me Up”, together with dancers in neon pink and purple outfits.

On the other hand, Halsey also rendered a number wherein she performed amidst a rather angelic and mystical cage complete with flowers and horses. The singer showed off her dancing skills as she waltzed and ballet across the stage before lying in a graveyard post on the floor.

Rosalia also performed with “Di Mi Nombre” as her opening where she combined Spanish music with urban sounds and rhythms. The choreography was stunning with more than 50 women dancing the flamenco and then switching to hip-hop.

The host, Becky G, performed with Akon and together sang their latest song, “Como No.” Eventually, she hit the stage once again this time in a solo performance where she sang her “24-7”, “Sin Pijama” and “Mayores”.

There were other performances from Niall Horan, Green Day, NCT 127 and Ava Max. Liam Gallagher, who was given the Rock Icon Award, ended the program by singing “Once” and finally “Wonderwall” where the whole audience sang along with him.

Unfortunately, Taylor Swift wasn’t there to personally receive her awards. However, she did send messages and thanks to her fans and supporters.
