The 92nd Oscars finally drew to a close and with it, the complete list of winners from one of the world’s highly anticipated award-winning body. It was an unforgettable and successful night for the winners while some got nominated but left the venue empty-handed.

Of all the studios out there, Netflix headed the list with 24 nominations but unfortunately, they didn’t dominate the night as they went home with just two awards. They won Best Documentary for American Factory and Best Supporting Actress for Laura Dern’s performance in Marriage Story. Unfortunately, their two biggest films namely The Irishman and The Two Popes didn’t win any.

Netflix has been very aggressive in its Oscar push with many competitors claiming they have spent around $70 million on their campaign. The streamer aims to produce more films and aspire to be a full-fledged studio this year.

On the other hand, South Korea’s Parasite made history by winning Best Picture. It’s the first international film that won in the said category. Their director, Bong Joon-Ho and his team garnered major awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film.

The highly acclaimed film, Joker, earned the most number of nominations but they only bagged Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Best Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir.

On the other hand, 1917 and Ford v Ferrari also garnered awards in technical categories such as Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing. The singer, Elton John, got the trophy for Best Original Song for Rocketman.
