Look no further if you want to fill that sports-shaped void in your heart during this time of social distancing and quarantine. Netflix has dozens of wonderful movies and TV shows which feature all about different sports like baseball, basketball, football and many more.
Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday is a must for football fans. Al Pacino takes on the role of a football coach aiming for a win after a year of losses and an aging quarterback (played by Dennis Quaid). Also starring in the movie are James Woods, Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz.

The first two seasons of The CW’s All American are now available to stream if you’re a pigskin fan but are looking for a longer commitment. This drama is loosely inspired by the life of professional American football player Spencer Paysinger. The teen drama features a player who has grown up in Crenshaw but is then recruited to play for a Beverly Hills high school – and so he is faced with the challenge of balancing two very different lifestyles.
If you happen to search for something lighter, Michael Jordan’s Space Jam and Adam Sandler’s The Waterboy are must-watch comedies that can also satisfy that athlete inside you missing NCAA or NBA during the drought. To top it all off, a sequel to the 1996 basketball movie is coming up, starring LeBron James and directed by Black Panther boss Ryan Coogler.
In September 2018, 35-year-old James said that the Space Jam collaboration is so much bigger than just him and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing the movie. He added that he’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams, and that he thinks that Ryan did exactly that for a lot of people.
Check out 2014’s documentary Stop at Nothing: The Lance Armstrong Story if you’re searching for true-to-life stories.
