Vanessa Bryant Breaks Silence Over Husband’s Death

The world is still mourning over the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others who died in a helicopter crash last January 26 in Calabasas California.

Many people expressed their grief especially in social media over the death of the basketball legend and Oscar winner including famous celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Gigi Hadid, Cardi B, Bruno Mars, Drake, Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, Jack Nicholson and many more. They even paid tribute to the fallen star during the Grammys.

But none can compare with the biggest tribute of all coming from his wife, Vanessa Bryant. She finally broke her silence on Wednesday, January 29, over the death of his husband and daughter.

She took to Instagram to deliver her heartbreaking message. She started by saying thanks to the people who offered support, love, and prayers because according to her, they need them. They are devastated by the sudden loss of Kobe and Gianna.

My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately. There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon. I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way. Our love for them is endless — and that’s to say, immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them and bless them. Have them here with us, forever. Thank you for sharing your joy, your grief and your support with us. We ask that you grant us the respect and privacy we will need to navigate this new reality. To honor our Team Mamba family, the Mamba Sports Foundation has set up the MambaOnThree Fund to help support the other families affected by this tragedy. To donate, please go to To further Kobe and Gianna’s legacy in youth sports, please visit Thank you so much for lifting us up in your prayers, and for loving Kobe, Gigi, Natalia, Bianka, Capri and me. #Mamba #Mambacita #GirlsDad #DaddysGirls #Family ❤️

Meanwhile, she also took a moment to honor other victims namely Christina Mauser, Payton Chester, Ara Zobayan, and John, Keri, and Alyssa Altobelli. She said that they’re equally devastated for the families who, like her, have lost their loved ones and are currently mourning. She continued by saying that she takes comfort knowing that her husband and daughter knew that they were loved. She said that they were blessed having them in their lives and wish they were with them forever.

Vanessa mentioned that she isn’t sure what their lives hold because it’s impossible to imagine life without Kobe and Gigi. However, they wake up every day knowing that the two are shining and lighting their way. She added that their love is endless but she only wishes she could still hug, kiss, and bless them and have them forever.

As a way of honoring Team Mamba, Vanessa said that the Mamba Sports Foundation has set up MambaOnThree Fund which will support the affected families of the horrific accident.

She finished her statement by saying thank you to those who lifted them up in their prayers and for loving Kobe and their family.

Earlier, Vanessa honored her loved ones by updating her Instagram account with a new profile picture showing Kobe and Gigi when they were still younger. She also changed her Instagram account to public.
