To focus on how she can strive for more inclusivity and representation in the fashion industry, Victoria Beckham is taking a “step back.”
The 46-year-old designer took to Instagram a statement detailing how the fashion industry, in terms of supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, can do better.
Beckham shared that the fashion industry has a huge role to play in the Black Lives Matter movement, starting with representation both within the business and who everyone works with externally, saying that she and everyone else can be better.
She continued that they at Victoria Beckham, have always strived to be inclusive, but they need to be better and to look inwards, and they’ve set up an internal working group to look at everything from their talent and teams to their casting, partners, and suppliers as a first step. The team, she explained, as their short and long-term actions are executed, will hold her business “accountable and ensure.”
Beckham stated that her eponymous women’s wear line, “to ensure that they are listening to each other, really discussing the identifying unconscious bias and issues in themselves and the wider business,” additional support and training for the team will also be provided.
Continuing her statement, Beckham said that it’s each of their responsibilities to use their platforms for change, conversation and education and to speak out, adding that things sure won’t be changed or solved in a single day, but clearly, to start doing more, they can’t wait another day.
Accompanied by a picture of her statement, in her Instragram caption, the former pop-star went on outlining what changes can be implemented by the fashion industry to make more of a difference in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement as well as other social justice issues.

She then continued to announce her commitment to continue using her platform for “conversation, change and education” and to “speak out.”
Concluding her caption, she shared that to being better and doing more, both professionally and personally, she is absolutely committed, and that she’s hoping that everyone shares her sentiment and are doing the same thing with brands, businesses, family and friends so that in this vital issue, everyone plays their part.
