Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa Wins Miss Universe 2019 Crown

After doing exceptionally well through the swimsuit, evening gown and interview portions, Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was crowned as Miss Universe 2019 on Sunday night.

Miss South Africa expressed herself on social issues. She talked about how a woman like her having that kind of skin color and hair was not considered beautiful by society. She said that this kind of treatment should stop today, and she wants her children to look at and embrace the resemblance that they share in the future.

When the top three candidates were announced, Miss South Africa was in along with Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Mexico. During the final interview, one question was asked to all of them. They were asked, “What is the most important thing that people should teach young girls today?”.

First to answer was Miss Mexico, who talked about teaching young girls about their true value. She stressed out that we should teach children how amazing they already are, as well as the way they act and react to the world. On the other hand, Miss Puerto Rico answered about embracing one’s uniqueness and embracing who they are.

However, it was the answer of Miss South Africa who gave her the edge over her competitors. She said that we should teach children about leadership because it is what has been lacking in women for a long time due to society’s label. She also believed that women should be given every opportunity and allow them to take up space. She concluded that nothing is as important as taking up space in society and cementing yourself.

The competition was held in Atlanta with Tyler Perry Studios. Moreover, Steve Harvey was there again to host the event and was dressed in a green suit with gold embezzlement.

Last year’s Miss Universe, Catriona Gray from the Philippines had her farewell on the event wearing a dashing blue gown. She also talked about how unforgettable, life-changing and purposeful her journey was as Miss Universe. In a video, Gray talked about how amazing it is to have a platform where she can voice out what she’s passionate about. She also said how Miss Universe allowed her to amplify that voice.
